How My Blog Got Its Name

If you are reading this, you already know that my blog is called “All Kinds of Knitting.” You are probably wondering how I came up with such a clever title and whether it has any special meaning.

I’ll answer the second question first. I like to do all kinds of knitting: sweaters, socks, shawls, scarves, mittens, blankets, doilies, tablecloths, hats, Aran, Gansey, stranded, lace, textured, ad infinitum. That’s my Frost Flowers and Leaves from A Gathering of Lace in the picture.

There are a few types of knitting I don’t like doing and thus don’t do: beaded, twined, intarsia. I knit right-handed, i.e., English style (in knitting parlance, I’m a thrower), but when I do stranded knitting, I carry the foreground color in my left hand. Yes, I am a two-handed strander. I am capable of doing the knit stitch left-handed, i.e., continental style, but I find purling that way to be incredibly awkward, and after 47 years of knitting English style, I see no reason to change. YMMV.

Now for the story as to how my blog got its oh-so-very-interesting, creative, imaginative, and intriguing name. The iWeb template I used to make my blog had the title “All Kinds of Writing.” That was my inspiration. ☺
