An Old Dog Learning New Tricks

No, that’s not an old dog in the picture. That’s Shannon, the world’s cutest kitty. ☺ I’m the old dog being referenced, and who wants to look at a picture of me when they can look at cute little Shanny?

Next question: Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? I’m pretty new to all this blogging stuff. I use iWeb to produce my blog. It’s one of the many great programs that are included on new Macs. It’s pretty simple to use, but certain things have frustrated me.

For example, I have had a heck of a time trying to insert pictures within the text. I figured out a way to do it by dragging and dropping. But frankly, it is a royal pain in the you know what because the picture is actually on top of the text, and I have to do a lot of fiddling to get everything to show. And even after I get everything looking fine on my Mac, the spacing is all screwy when viewed on a PC.

Then, like a bolt of lightening out of the blue, as I was backing up some files to my iDisk, I noticed a text file titled iWeb hint in my Documents folder. I previewed the contents–one nice feature of Mac OS 10.5 is that you can actually view the contents of a file without opening the program used to make the file–and realized the hint was all about inserting pictures within the text.

Naturally, I had to try it to see whether it works. So here’s a picture I inserted into the text using the aforementioned hint, which is to copy and paste rather than drag and drop. Doh! V-8 slap to the forehead!

The only way I’ll know whether it works as I hope it will  is to publish this blog entry. So here goes.

Oh, btw, this is a picture of the lovely Gulf Coast of Florida at Indian Shores, between Clearwater and St. Pete.

I really hope this works because it will make it much easier for me to include more pictures of knitting stuff on those now seemingly rare occasions on which I actually blog about knitting.

Okay,  now for the real test. I’ll publish this entry and see how it looks on my Mac, then have DH check it out on his PC. Keep your fingers crossed, okay?
